Portugal Itinerary

DAY ONE - LISBON

Olá Portugal, we've arrived 💁🏽‍♀️. First order of business: drop our bags and freshen up at women-owned The Lisboans.

To kick things off, we’re syncing up with local stylist and designer Sophie Lloyd, as she takes us inside the workshops and showrooms of the coolest female designers in Lisbon. At each studio visit, you’ll get to meet and chat with the designers to understand their inspiration and process. And while there is absolutely no pressure to shop, this tour is perfect for those looking to bring home unique Portuguese textiles, ceramics, and jewelry.

For dinner, we'll head to Lisbon-hot spot, Prado Wine Bar. You’ll feast on a tasting menu paired with wines by Portugal’s top female winemakers. Best part? Our hotel is just upstairs, so beauty sleep is right around the corner.

Meals included: dinner

DAY TWO - LISBON

You’re officially out of office, so breakfast in bed seems like the perfect way to celebrate, don’t you think?

Now, it’s time to work off the jet lag (and maybe the vinho from last night?). We hope you packed your sneakers, because we’re heading on a foraging expedition led by Portugal’s resident cocktail star, Constança Cordeiro. We’ll stroll through an urban forest to collect ingredients for a cocktail making class later in the afternoon.

After a picnic lunch in the wilderness, we’ll migrate to Constança’s bar, Toca da Raposa, for a private mixology class using the ingredients we found that day. The evening will be yours to explore the city’s restaurants & nightlife.

Meals included: breakfast, lunch

DAY THREE - LISBON

After a leisurely morning, we’re meeting Vanessa Teodoro - a super cool South African artist based in Lisbon. You’ll see the city through her eyes, as she guides us on a street art tour. Don’t worry - you’ll get to leave your mark, too. Vanessa has a wall and spray paint ready to teach you how to graffiti (life goals complete?).

The afternoon and evening is yours to explore Lisbon (with some tips from us, of course!).

Meals included: breakfast

DAY FOUR - SANTA CRUZ

This morning is all about the food, and we’re learning from the best of the best: Ana Viçoso, owner of The Lisbon Cooking Academy. Ana’s teaching us everything we need to know about Portugal’s food history (fun fact: did you know that the English royals started drinking tea because of a Portuguese princess?!), while we roll up our sleeves and learn how to make a typical Portuguese lunch.

After our cooking class, we’re breaking free from city life and heading to the breathtaking coastal region of Santa Cruz. We’re here for a little self care. Work on your tan by the pool. Get a massage. Take a nap in the grass. Pedal a bike along the boardwalk. The afternoon is yours. In the evening, we’ll eat a delicious dinner in the garden.

Meals included: breakfast, lunch, dinner

DAY FIVE - PORTO

Before leaving this magical place (warning: you might shed some tears - we do every single time), we’ll enjoy a scrumptious farm-to-table breakfast and a morning by the pool.

Next stop: Porto! We’ll drive up the coast of Portugal and check-in at Luisa Souto Moura’s Duas Portas Townhouse when we arrive. You’ll have the rest of the evening to enjoy dinner in town or relax at the hotel.

Meals included: breakfast, lunch

DAY SIX - DOURO VALLEY

You can’t visit Portugal without visiting wine country. Today’s the day for a day trip to Douro Valley.

We’ll be spending a day with winemaker Sandra Tavares at her Wine&Soul winery. She’ll teach us all about winemaking during a stroll around the property and a picnic lunch. You’ll even get to shop her private collective of wine to take home (read: your excuse to check a bag!).

Meals included: breakfast, lunch

DAY SEVEN - PORTO

The daytime is yours to spend it however you like! We’ll give you a list of our favorite museums, galleries and shops so you can explore this magical city at your own pace.

In the evening, we’ll come together for a final group dinner at Rafaela Louzada’s Gruta — a chance to linger over great food, reflect on the week, and celebrate the friendships formed along the way.

Meals included: breakfast, dinner

My Instagram is filled to the brim with pictures of the week but it doesn’t even come close to showing the magic of this trip. Every single experience was so thoughtful and amazing. The hotels were spectacular and the women we met along the way were so incredibly kind and just wonderful human beings. It’s clear the time and attention given to planning this left no stone unturned and no detail forgotten. Trip of a lifetime doesn’t even come close to expressing what this has been.
— Brittany W.
This was my first trip with Wild Terrains and my first trip to Portugal-it was exceptional! From the cozy, beautiful boutique hotels, to the unique and interesting experiences it was just outstanding. The women I traveled with were from all walks of life, lots of fun and filled with great energy.
— Susan
Portugal was an absolute dream. I would’ve never imagined foraging for herbs in a forest and taking those same ingredients to make my own cocktail. But we did that and it was a blast. I’m so grateful for all the incredible women I met on this trip. I definitely left Portugal with friends for life!
— Vanessa T.
I feel so lucky to have traveled to Portugal with Wild Terrains. Every detail was so incredibly well thought out, from the beautiful hotels we stayed in, to the interesting daily activities (not even close to being on my tourist radar!), to the amazing restaurants. They are truly the most perfectly curated trips - and that is coming from a very selective traveler.
— Amy G.
I booked this trip for my daughter’s college graduation and it was a truly remarkable trip for both of us. The perfect mother-daughter experience. The art, culture, food, design, and architecture we experienced were incredible. And the women we met were so inspiring. From the adventures in Lisbon to the Oceanside spa to a vineyard in Porto ….impossible to pick a favorite day. We just loved our travel group as well! I will treasure our memories forever. Ready to book another WT trip for my next college graduate.
— Suzanne W.
A trip of a lifetime. Everything was curated beautifully. We were a group of all solo travelers and it was amazing to see our group get closer and closer as the week went on. I also cherished the ‘alone time’ that was scheduled each day.

BEST TIME OF YEAR TO VISIT

There really isn’t a bad time to visit Portugal. We like to stick to the spring (March-May) and fall (September-November) for beautiful weather and less touristy crowds.

WEATHER

Portugal has a beautiful Mediterranean climate where you can appreciate all four seasons of the year. Spring and fall tend to be mild, while summers can be very hot.
